It looks like I will be teaching yoga at The Quarry* every Wednesday! AHHH I’m so excited!

I started my garden!

I’m doing this with my SIL.  Since I have a backyard the actual gardens are staying with me but we’ll alternate days taking care of them.  We have spinach, lettuce, tomatoes (several kinds), bell peppers, beans, peas, a squash, broccoli, and cucumbers.  For herbs we have basil, chocolate mint, oregano, anise, chamomile, and cilantro.  The best part is now we’re at the easy part - just making sure they don’t die (I found building the boxes and mixing the soil to be more work than simply watering).

I’m excited!  Fresh vegetables!  I don’t know what we’re going to do with the bajillion tomatoes.  Good thing M (my SIL) is a chef!

I have attained a new level of nerd today.

I’ve been trying to get this whole meal planning thing to something manageable so I can eat healthy, on a budget, and with regularity.  I’m also trying to switch to vegetarian which is a bit on the difficult side since Mr. B. loveshis meat.  Which is fine.  We all have our likes and dislikes of everything, so whatever, right?  I digress.  So today I thought I would use spreadsheets to figure out meal planning/recipes/food organization stuff.  Because spreadsheets! and organizing!

Then I had the thought of how useful it would be to find recipes based on what food I already have available in my kitchen.  Now, I have recipe apps on my phone that sooort of do this.  I’m very fond of pepper plate which has been the best for me so far, but it doesn’t take things as far as I want them to.  This then led to the thought (and here’s where it gets nerdy), “Oh, I just write my own program for this then.”

How did I even get to this point?

I’m totally writing the program, by the way.

Onward, to nerd-dom!

Dear my brain,

Will you please shut up so I can sleep?

So, I’m job hunting again.

As you do.  I would love to get a job teaching yoga.  This is what I would prefer to do but it doesn’t seem to be working out that way.  So I’m looking all over these job hunting sites, etc, and I can’t help but think that it would be so easy for me to get a job teaching English in Japan.  I could get that job in a heartbeat. If I was single, I’d probably be in Japan right now, doing just that (and I love Japan!).  But when you’re married, it just doesn’t work that way.  You can’t just jump up and move to the other side of the planet.  Well, you can, but not without some serious and hopefully unwanted ramifications to your relationship.  I love Mr. B and I’m happy with the choices I’ve made - it’s just a little frustrating to be looking for jobs while knowing that there’s one that I would be good at and so easy to get, and yet have it just out of reach, that’s all.

Today I climbed a mountain.

Six miles. 3000 feet in elevation. The last stretch was *so hard*. But I still did it. I climbed a friggin’ mountain.

That awkward moment where you define how old an object is by saying, “It existed before the internet.”

I may or may not be doing chores and such in my Ravenclaw house robes.

Because I can.

And then I’m suddenly teaching three yoga classes tomorrow.

Someone needed a last-minute volunteer to come to a middle school for a fitness day and teach three special ed (mild to moderate) classes some yoga.  I’m excited!  And nervous.  It’s very last minute and there are certain unique challenges that I am unaccustomed to handling as a teach yet (for example cerebral palsy).  It will be nice, however, to teach.  Their usual teacher has the impression that they’re looking forward to it - and I believe they are - but they’re also 12-13 year olds and I’m not so old yet that I don’t remember what it’s like when you trying to act the way you think your age is supposed to be.

My first class is at 8am.  Wish me luck!
